Equal Exchange worker-owners Leif Rawson-Ahern and Emily Ambrose engaged 32 participants in a discussion and questions/answers of how Equal Exchange has grown as a worker-owned Fair -Trade organization and how they seek new ways to engage citizen-consumers.  Over the next few decades, Equal Exchange intends to engage and collaborate with like-minded partners and stakeholders throughout the Fair-Trade system to continue transforming how business is done.

Some of those like-minded folks participated in this meeting.  Representatives of the co-sponsoring organizations spoke of work and challenges within their groups.  What to do next and how to continue growing connections with represented organizations is an opportunity to be continued. fond du lac fair trade signs

FOND DU LAC – Coming in from the city’s four corners, visitors and residents alike will see white, blue and brown signs marking Fond du Lac as a “Fair Trade Town.”

Found at 1045 E. Johnson St., 790 W. Johnson St., 1047 S. Main St., and 100 feet west of South Seymour Street on Military Road, the signs show Fond du Lac’s commitment to social justice and fair trade, which began five years ago.

The city became the United States’ 32nd Fair Trade Town in May 2013 when a volunteer steering committee, along with the City of Fond du Lac City Council, gathered to lead community organizations, cafes and retail in the effort, said Anne Lemke, who volunteers to promote fair trade in Fond du Lac.
