The Fond du Lac Fair Trade Town Committee is seeking to add local establishments to the map of Fond du Lac supporters.  The basic requirement is to offer for sale two Fair Trade products that are Fair Trade certified or from a Fair Trade member organization.  Contact us by checking out our Contact page or emailing us at fairtradetownfdl@gmail.com if you would like more information about sourcing Fair Trade products or would like assistance with helping your staff understand the goals and structure of Fair Trade.  Here is a list of local businesses and communities already incorporated into Fair Trade, just click on a tab for more information!

Annie's Fountain City Café

Description: Annie’s Fountain City Café, was opened by Annie Culver, with the assistance of her husband Gary and daughter Katelyn in January of 2016.  Since then Annie's has become a staple of Fond du Lac, offering delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere. Annie’s also includes a Pay-It-Forward Wall where customers post blessing notes showing café items they purchased for others to enjoy, open mike on Wednesday nights often featuring students from Mike’s Music and Annie’s has backroom space for meetings, parties, and special events.

Description: The mission of Ascension Lutheran Church is “Worship the Lord; Grow in faith; Care for Others, and share the Good News of Jesus Christ”  This faith community is trying to promote justice and help in developing nations.  They are glad to be a part of a community of churches working together to support justice.  Equal Exchange Fair Trade coffee is served at Ascension and Fair Trade palm branches are purchased for Palm Sunday.

Description: This coffee shop opened in September 2000 on the Marian University Campus. It is open to students, faculty and the public. Starbucks coffee is served at Common Grounds. Starbucks Estima and Starbucks Decaf are both Fair Trade coffee.

The Mission of the Farm2Table Co-op is to promote a healthy, vibrant community by providing fresh, nutritious, and fairly-priced goods and services to consumers while supporting local and organic suppliers.  The Farm2Table Co-op currently operates a small store at the temporary address, and an online store. In the near future, the co-op is planning to open a downtown Fond du Lac food store, which will serve area residents and workforce, and beyond.

First Presbyterian Church

Description: A delegation to Chiapas Mexico to learn about Fair Trade coffee growing and a recommendation of the Presbyterian Church USA to use  Fair Trade Organic coffee and sugar was the impetus for a decision that Fair Trade coffee could be sold in the church and the Fair Trade coffee would be served exclusively in the church.
This led to the organization of the Just Fare Market with First Presbyterian making available space for the developing Fair Trade outlet.  Members continue to enjoy Fair Trade coffee from the Interfaith Department of Equal Exchange during Sunday morning coffee hour as well as at other church events.  Fair Trade Palms are purchased for Palm Sunday.

Description: The Gallery and Frame Shop has been in business since 1975, starting in the home of the owner, Julie Balson’s parents.  Fair Trade is a good fit for this gallery shop. Fairtrade products include: Haitian Metal Art, Photo Frames and Hand Carved Treasure Boxes from India (Matr Boomie) and pottery. Located on the corner of Main and First Street, Julie often shares her expansive store windows for a display of Fair Trade products from local Fair Trade Businesses during October, Fair Trade Month.

Description: Holy Family has a sister parish relationship with Rosita, Nicaragua which raised awareness of our responsibility to support small-scale farmers and artisans and to work for a more just world.
